Born and raised in New York City, Nick Acevedo is a Mortgage Broker and the father of five children: Genave, Nicholas, Amanda, Isaiah and Felicity.

A former International Boxing Association (IBA) Intercontinental titleholder, Acevedo held a perfect record of 15 wins, nine by way of knockout, before succumbing to the pressure of his rising status.  In 2002, Acevedo faced his first loss to former International Boxing Federation (IBF) Junior Welterweight Champion Vince Philips, a loss that marked his last time in the ring.

Now back after three years, Acevedo vows to never let the pressure get to him again and saw The Contender as his shot to redeem himself and provide a better life for his children.

On episode 7, a confident Acevedo stepped into the ring against Jeff Fraza and started the fight very strong. Acevedo continued to pick his shot’s with precision which allowed him to go on and win the fight.

On episode 8, Acevedo came out swinging and even hurt Forbes in the 3rd round. But after all the hard work in the first three rounds, Acevedo ran out of gas and punched himself out. In the end, it was a very close split decision to enable Forbes to advance to the final four.

At the Finale in Los Angeles, the evening began with Nick Acevedo improving to 17-2 after a unanimous decision over Nurhan Suleymanoglu (16-5) of Turkey.
