Brian Vera possesses the aggressive spirit and style that comes from a long line of professional boxers, including his father Gilbert Vera.  Brian is a two time IBA champion and is quickly rising in the ranks of the super middleweight division.

Born December 28th, 1981, Vera’s been around boxing his whole life, but only started serious training for the sport at age 19, turning professional in 2004.  Originally a middleweight, Brian had to move up in weight class to super middleweight in order to compete on “The Contender”.  Unfortunately, Vera suffered his first professional defeat against Jaidon Codrington (a TKO in round 2 on this season of The Contender).

During “The Contender” Finale, Brian was given new hope as he was matched against the Max Alexander. Wanting to prove his worth, Vera was steadfast and persistent - eventually winning the bout by unanimous decision.

On March 21st, 2008, Vera proved to the world his desire to be among the best.  Pitted against the undefeated Andy Lee, the underrated Vera displayed non-stop poise and determination during the sold-out match.  During the 7th Round, Vera was able to open a cut above Lee’s right eye impairing his ability to strike or properly put up a defense.  Using this opportunity, Vera continued to land punches against the injured Lee before the referee stepped in and stopped the fight awarding Vera with a TKO.

Vera stated that being on “The Contender” gave him exposure and he hopes it opens up a lot of new opportunities.
