A native of Seattle, Walter “2 Guns” Wright possesses the heart of a champion and a positive outlook on life.  After facing defeat in his debut professional fight, Wright saw the loss as a positive learning experience by reflecting on key points which turned against him.

An alternate for the United States boxing team at the 2000 Olympics, Wright boasted a successful amateur career, winning ninety of his 102 fights.

On episode 4 of “The Contender”, Walter Wright took advantage of Andre Eason who appeared to be an out of shape, unprepared boxer.  In the first round, the fight looked lopsided as Walter caught Andre with a vicious punch knocking him down to the canvas.  Andre came back, but despite his tremendous heart and determination, Walter went on to win the bout by unanimous decision.

On episode 9, came a highly anticipated fight for two warriors. Animosity between K9 and Walter had been brewing since week one bringing tension to the house.  This fight was unavoidable as Walter had purposely put his name next to K9’s on the board.  Walter looked great, picking and choosing his punches carefully and tactically against a much stronger fighter.  Even though Walter appeared to have the upper hand, K9’s power proved overwhelming for Walter and in the end he lost the bout on the score cards.

In the second of three under card bouts for the Season Finale, Wright scored a TKO against Vinroy Barrett (21-6) after Barrett's corner stopped the bout at the end of the fourth round.

After “The Contender” series ended, Walter went on to fight Dan Wallace on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights at the Emerald Queen Casino.  After knocking Wallace down twice in the eighth round, Walter was declared the winner by TKO.  Wanting to return to the ring quickly, Walter seized the opportunity to face the tough and nimble Anthony Small.  Despite a big eighth round by Wright, Small was declared the winner by split decision.
